what am i considering? = Brief 1 (magazine)= animals/dogs or Brief 4 (website)= veggie recipes/what it does for the planet
1. pros = easy photos as i have a dog
cons = harder to do as you have to use photoshop, text ect/ would it reach my target audience?
2. pros = im already educated on the subject and it is easier to create a website time wise/ would fit my target audience
cons =
Dog magazine
create a front cover and a double page spread article for a hobby magazine aimed at an audience primarily of 14-18 year olds
purpose of the product: inform young - old teens about their dogs
target audience- 14-18 year olds who preferably have a dog or a teen whos family is looking to get one
how does it appeal to the target audience: colour palate would be bright and fun colours. there would be fun and interesting facts and also things you need to know when getting or having a dog.

research
Lo: to research codes and conventions of similar products
magazine
1. they includes ways to change daily habits, tips, recipes, well known chefs
2. most commonly used image is a photo of a dish, photos of known chefs
3. the colour scheme often compliments the colours in the food dish (main image)
4. masthead is right at the top and is commonly in a bold font
5. 1-4 images are used
6. 4-5 cover lines
7. bottom corner or on the sides
8. often only 2 - 3 fonts are used, the masthead is obviously the largest and the cover lines are smaller but are all mostly the same size the main subheading for the coverlines variy in fonts
9. the puffs are used to draw attention to either a new recipe and or a rhetorical question to ask the reader
10, 11 +12. they have 5+ images with information on different subjects spread across 2 pages, this is often one of the many first pages. The font is all the same within the info paragraph but each header is a larger font and has a different desgin to stand out. and barley changes size, there are more than one colours and they are bright and 'pop'. on each subject there is a website or source linked.
1. the genre codes and conventions:they are used to grab the attention of the reader and draw them in.
the fonts are often in bold colours and the mast head is the in the largest text. the main image is often what the magazines main focal point will be based on.
2. the cover is laid out with one main image and 2-3 smaller images. there are at least 1 puff.
The dps are laid out with 5+ images (at least one image for each subject) a different font for each information box and font with a bright colour to make it draw attention.
1.they use subjects that the target audience (vegan/vegetarians) would find interest in eg. a bright meal ,and draw them in.the colours used are bright (green, blue, red) each colour matches the theme of the image/brand placed in the same section so nothing clashes.
2. the matte covering indicate a higher end value, along side with the digital side, also indicate a well made, higher production however i would settle with a medium as compared with vogue and their editorials it would not level with them and be high end.
3. the features within the magazine link to the target audience as they used subjecdts and terms only most these people would be interested in learning more about for examples they used features like; on the go luchtime recipes, this would appeal the the target audience as a large number would/need quick and easy meals (students).
4. the font style within the infomation section is kept very basic the the same throughout, this makes it clear it is informative. the size is not too big so its not to appeal to younger audiences ( 13 and below?)as they dont tend to 'read' magazines and would stand out to more of an older audience. the colour palette is bright colours but since they do not clash they keep the page in a softer tone.
5.the target audice is young-old teens ( 14-18yrs) who are students. the magazine appeals to this audience through the use of bright colours initially used on the front cover and within the magazine which would stand out and catch their eye. on the front cover there is "everyday easy!" in a lareg bright font (yellow) this would defienanlty stand out to this target audience as they dont tend to care that much in the morning or evening about what meals they partically eat and in the morning would want something easy to make for lunch at school.
- name -> simply teen, vegan and lifestyle
- tagline -> the only uk vegan magazine for teens!
- sub-genre -> what does being vegan do to the envirement
- representation -> a dish placed on the front cover but not taking up the full page, leaves space for text to be clearly seen. background would be a dull colour ( eg. grey, white, cream) language used would be not to complicated as they would find it too boring.
- house style -> colour scheme would be dull but the main image is bright but wont clash. font for heading is large text but simple font so its easy to read from far away, sub-heading would have a more fancy tone so its stands out on the page.
- colour palette -> bright and colourful
- cover image ideas -> plant based dish, preferbally ingredients used to make it bright and pop off the page with someone someone stood holding a dish,( teen to match target audience) longshot/mid shot
- possible cover lines -> quick and easy, affordable school meals ---- take your first steps. How you can make an impact ----- Puff : 10+ recipes to satisfy your sweet tooth and stay vegan ----
- info to include -> barcode, date published, price
- DPS article subject -> taking the first steps. why go vegan and facts
- DPS image ideas -> shown below
- DPS layout ideas -> shown below
target audience
- teens ages 14-18
- female + male
- income/job = middle class students who have the money/ parents ave the money to go and buy new ingredients
- interests = environmental/ cooking, someone who may be looking for a new interest, aspiring to be vegan/veggie
- succceders
- the would have to be interested in learning new ways to better themselves/the environment and enjoys nature. wanting to learn a new way of cooking with lots of different ingredients
